There’s a power (actual and symbolic) in knowing and using your own voice.
My work lifts up people in pain. People who want to be themselves but feel they can't. People who need a supportive cheerleader. People who may have given up hope of being accepted and loved because of who they are rather than despite it.
This work blends ancient teachings of Yoga with vocal arts in a unique and powerful way. We’ll address your concerns and goals in a collaborative way, to help you be the self you’ve been stifling.
What exactly are inner monkeys?
The term “inner monkeys” is a metaphor (often attributed to the Buddha) for the constant chattering thoughts inside our heads, which leap from branch to branch and demand our attention.
Sometimes these inner monkeys are playfully distracting, but at other times our inner thoughts can be critical, destructive, and debilitating.
Rather than battling against those inner monkeys, my approach in our yoga therapy sessions is to befriend them, to redirect their energy to become strong allies and guides.
Hi, I’m Hannah
I believe we are ALL whole as we are. I know that’s a radical statement, and we can have a lot of fun debating it because I love a good philosophical argument. But that belief is at the core of yoga therapy and it informs all the work I do. It is the love in my work.
Even if you’ve lived through seriously dark and troubled times (and I’m with you in that), you are not beyond help. You don’t need fixing, you are not broken. You need guidance and support to bring out the beauty and power and ease that’s already within you.
How to work with me
I offer private sessions, small group classes, and workshops.
Private sessions are typically 60-90 minutes each week and are completely tailored to you and your needs.
Small group classes meet weekly and will primarily focus on stress reduction and centering.
I also offer periodic workshops on particular themes such as Finding Your Voice, Self-Acceptance, Creating a Personal Practice, and more.
